Spectators in Residence (1st edition)
Mediation I El Graner
February- June 2020
The question begins this spectatorial trip could be: What do we do whit the images who we see? Where do it carry? How do we can use them to build a collective space?
Spectators in Residence is a study community, a band of restless spectators and a forum of discussion who promotes learning and research processes based on Graner's programme of artistic residencies in live arts and dance.
Through encounters with artists, presentations of work in progress, public debates and exchange practices, we propose an experimental space that plays with the epistemic and ludic potential of the public to appropriate and reconfigure the themes of the stage. It is a space where an active and reflexive condition is shared with the artist through collective research on the poetics of the audience.
If sight is an organ that oscillates between passion and action, a kind of seismograph that draws the relations between seeing, feeling, speaking and thinking... What kind of relations could we explore? What kind of relations could we explore? What are the politics and poetics that shape us? What dispositions intervene in our ways of seeing and reading an artistic work? How do we transform the image into a collective space?
Spectators in Residence is open to anyone who wants to enjoy art in an active and dialogical way. It is articulated around two types of encounters:
︎︎︎ In the living room with... are a series of meetings with Graner's resident artists where they approach their research and methodologies through work in progress events. The artists of the first edition are Núria Guiu, Azkona&Toloza, Pere Faura, El Conde de Torrefiel and Nyamnyam.
︎︎︎ The audience circle is a space for experimentation on the gaze and the condition of the contemporary audience. It is a place to explore the bodily dispositions that lead to ways of feeling, seeing and relating to the images on stage.
